Bio: Dan Pearce worked in support of NASA as an aerospace engineer creating computational fluid dynamics models of spacecraft such as the Space Shuttle Launch Vehicle. He designed and built his family's solar powered home. As a sculptor he is attempting to utilize both his passion for technology and the hands-on satisfaction of object making to present new ways to experience space, time and perception.
Artist's Statement: I see sculpture as a means to comprehend four-dimensions. Beginning with time, I wondered: "What would I look like if I could see myself moving through time?" How could I subdue time and rotate it into three-space as a physical object. The resulting depictions of motion present unexpected forms that allow time to be held and examined. The simple experience of walking from one place to another seems an apt metaphor for traversing between the worlds of technology and art.
